Happy Tuesday everyone,
I hope you all had a good weekend. It seems like we said goodbye to summer with a beautiful hot day on Saturday and then hello to autumn with the rain clouds on Sunday… Two completely different weather extremes over the weekend and the rain seems to have set in this week. We spent Saturday at the Berkshire show in the sunshine, enjoying everything country. I call it the Berkshire Show but my husband still refuses to call it anything other than the Newbury Show which is what it always used to be. The weather brought out the crowds and the atmosphere was fantastic with lots to see and do.
The children loved making beeswax candles, tasting different honey (I won’t bore you with a sugar lecture today!), petting the baby goats and miniature ponies, watching the ferrets racing and much more. We met up with friends and the children ran about and played happily, we were all very tired come the end of the day. There just isn’t time to see everything so we ambled around seeing what we came across and the relaxed approach worked really well as we could take the time to enjoy things as we went.
I must say that one of the highlights for us was the impressive motorbike show, these guys jump so high and do some amazing tricks! The children loved watching them and were shouting and cheering them on, especially when the riders came round to “high five” them at the edge of the arena.
The amount of organisation and planning that goes in to this event is huge and I expect they are probably already getting ideas and plans started for next year.
Sunday was a good day to be indoors with the rugby and formula one on the television and the rain outside. It was nice not to have anywhere to go and for the children to play at home and enjoy being together. I hope you all have a really good week despite the weather…!Go Back
